Pola Łabędzka

Pola is a second-year student at the XIV High School of Stanislaw Staszic in Warsaw at a math, informatics and physics program. Her passion is computer science and other math-related subjects. In middle school, she has become a laureate of the Masovian school contest of computer science and recently she has won a grand prize in Google’s contest- Google Code-In – with Systers organization while creating a mobile application for mentorship for women from different backgrounds. Thanks to that, she has the opportunity to go to the Google conference and campus in the USA as one of 58 students from all over the world. At the moment, she is also engaged in the students’ government at her school (she is a vice president). In addition to the purely school-related activities, she also works as a model and thanks to that she develops her soft skills, gets to know a lot of interesting people, and gains experience in working with others. Her interests include cooking, photography and a healthy lifestyle. She used to train aerial dancing and figure skating, now she runs and practices yoga. Her biggest interest is traveling and learning about different cultures. She also loves helping others. She combines those two interests by for example going to workcamps, which are the international voluntary camps, or tutoring children in subjects such as math or English. Besides that, she occasionally engages in voluntary activities in Warsaw. In the future, she would like to create and work on informatics projects which would help to raise the quality of peoples’ lives all around the world.

Pola jest uczennicą drugiej klasy XIV Liceum Ogólnokształcącego im. Stanisława Staszica w Warszawie o profilu matematyczno-informatyczno-fizycznym. Jej pasją są informatyka i inne przedmioty ścisłe. W trzeciej klasie gimnazjum została laureatką mazowieckiego konkursu kuratoryjnego z informatyki, a ostatnio wygrała międzynarodowy konkurs Google’a Google Code-In tworząc z organizacją Systers aplikację do mentoringu dla kobiet z całego świata. Dzięki temu ma okazję jako jedna z 58 osób na świecie jechać do USA na kampus i konferencję Googla. Aktualnie jest również zaangażowana w samorząd uczniowski (pełni funkcję wiceprezydentki szkoły). Poza czysto szkolnymi zajęciami, pracuje również jako modelka, dzięki czemu rozwija swoje umiejętności miękkie, poznaje dużo ludzi i zdobywa doświadczenie w pracy z innymi. Jej zainteresowaniami są gotowanie, fotografia i zdrowy styl życia. Kiedyś trenowała akrobatykę powietrzną i łyżwiarstwo figurowe, a aktualnie biega i praktykuje jogę. Jej największą pasją jest podróżowanie i poznawanie innych kultur. Kocha też pomagać innym. Łączy te dwie pasje poprzez np. jeżdżenie na workcampy, czyli międzynarodowe obozy wolontariackie, czy udzielanie korepetycji z takich przedmiotów jak angielski oraz matematyka. Po za tym, angażuje się w różne wolontariaty w Warszawie. W przyszłości chciałaby tworzyć projekty informatyczne, które poprawiałyby jakość życia ludzi na całym świecie.
